Teeth Cleaning and Routine Preventive Care
It is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry that children visit a pediatric dentist by the age of one. A routine teeth cleaning is necessary to not only clean the teeth, but also to assess growth and teeth movement to prepare for orthodontic care and prevent any major problems before they happen.
We know that children are often fearful of dental visits and we strive to make sure they are comfortable the entire time they are in our office. Our pediatric dentists are highly recommended by parents and children for our patience and gentle care handling nervous and anxious guests. We take every care possible to understand a child’s fears and provide a solution that allows them to feel comfortable while in our chair.
Preventive Oral Hygiene Instruction:
During your child’s bi-annual teeth cleaning we will also instruct him or her on how to take care of their teeth in between visits. This includes proper brushing, flossing, and eating habits, ideal fluoride levels, and the use of pit and fissure dental sealants. We strive to provide a fun, educational environment where children learn about the importance of good dental hygiene and not feel nervous, anxious, or scared to visit us or receive dental services.
By applying these preventative oral hygiene tactics at home, you can help your child avoid painful dental visits in the future, and save yourself money on preventable dental expenses.
Although oral surgery can be a scary topic, especially for children, we take great care to ensure the procedure goes smoothly and comfortably for child and parent. Dr. Powell is committed to discussing all options before any procedure, and answering all questions you may have.
Oral surgery can include treatment for broken or failing children’s tooth fillings, crowns, and prosthesis, including treatment of the often devastating nursing bottle decay. These procedures help to correct any current issues that would hinder your child’s adult smile, as well as preventing any problems that could arise later in life. We are always working for the goal of your child’s healthy, beautiful smile.
Emergency Dental Care:
While our goal is to prevent dental emergencies, we understand that the need for urgent dental care is sometimes necessary and can be a stressful experience for both parents and children. We strive to handle dental emergencies promptly and with compassion.
Whether it’s a persistent toothache, chipped or broken teeth, or if a tooth has been knocked out, you can call our emergency dentist to be seen as quickly as possible.
